A necessary condition for properly working of the program is previously installed Winamp. Winamp Backup & Restore runs in two modes.
To create a backup of Winamp settings and files you first need to specify the default installation directory of Winamp. Winamp Backup & Restore automatically detects default Winamp directory and sets it as backup source directory. If there is a need to create a backup in another Winamp directory you can use the corresponding button, which allows you to choose it. The program displays basic information about the selected Winamp installation.
In next step you have to select a directory for backup file and add some description for the file. Winamp Backup & Restore automatically selects default backup directory (if there is no need, you should not change it, but you can do it using the appropriate button, which allows you to select a custom directory). The program creates a default name for the backup file and the default description, so you can get an idea of the contents of the backup file.
You can also select a compression algorithm and compression level of backup file. The default compression algorithm is 7z and compression level is normal (you can opt out of the compression-it will increase the Filesize but speed up the backup process).
In next step you have to select backup mode. The program offers three modes. Each of them allows you to create a backup in another way:
Once you selected desired mode Winamp Backup & Restore proceeds to create a backup file. All operations are recorded in the log. Its content and level of detail depends on the settings in the options.
Once the backup is complete, you can quit or go to the end page, which allows you to perform a number of additional actions:

You can change it using the appropriate button, which allows you to select a custom directory-winamp.exe file have to exist and Winamp version need to be correct. The program displays all the necessary information and verifies the ability to restore files.
The next step is to select restore mode or to restore selected backup file (in case the selected backup file has been created in full automatic mode).
